Nik Long M.Sc.
Nik Long is a conservation biologist and ecologist with global field experience across Africa, South America, and Europe. His work has focused on primates, rhinos, and large carnivores, with projects spanning endangered species recovery, community-based conservation, and ecological research in Thailand, Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Congo. With this breadth of fieldwork and applied conservation experience, Nik brings a strong foundation in ecology and wildlife management to his current role as a GIS Specialist at Dynamic Ocean Consulting.
Before joining Dynamic Ocean Consulting, Nik worked with international NGOs and philanthropic organizations, contributing to conservation programmes centered on wildlife recovery, natural resource management, and community-based natural resource management. He also served as Programme Officer for the IUCN Sustainable Use and Livelihoods Specialist Group, where he supported initiatives linking sustainable use, policy, and local livelihoods. His work has consistently bridged science, conservation practice, and community engagement at both grassroots and international levels.
Nik holds a BSc in Animal Behaviour and an MSc in Conservation Biology from Manchester Metropolitan University. Combining scientific training with technical GIS expertise and extensive field experience, he specializes in using spatial analysis and ecological insight to inform conservation strategy and decision-making. Passionate about biodiversity and the role of evidence-based science in tackling environmental challenges, Nik applies his global perspective to deliver practical, data-driven insights that support effective ecological management and informed decision-making.
