Lauren Man M.sc., Geography
Lauren is a marine geospatial ecologist born and raised in Hong Kong. She is passionate about mapping the coast and ocean, understanding kelp forest ecology, and using innovative techniques to inform habitat monitoring and coastal zone management. Her experience includes marine habitat mapping, remote sensing, marine protected area surveillance, and eDNA metabarcoding.
They recently completed an MSc in Geography at the University of Victoria's Spectral Remote Sensing Laboratory, where they used remote sensing and underwater ROVs to characterize the spatiotemporal distribution, abundance, and persistence of kelp forests in Kwakwakaʼwakw territories (the Broughton Archipelago). You can find them scaling rocks, taking photos, and reading in their free time.
